Fiesta Familiar, taking place during Hispanic Heritage month, will bring a variety of family activities to the zoo’s “living classroom” featuring interactive pavilions and hands-on educational projects, including:
Arts and Crafts: Families will have the ability to interact with local Chicago artists to be inspired and create their own works of art. Additionally, the “Reading Corner” will draw in a younger audience and celebrate children’s literature.
Health and Nutrition: A special Health and Nutrition area will be set up for families to receive information and advice on healthy living. Health-focused games and activities will also be featured.
Home and Garden: Families will learn about ecology in the Home and Garden pavilion, featuring gardening demonstrations and an open area where children can enjoy nature.
Science/Technology: The Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) pavilion will foster an interactive environment for children and families to learn about the world around them. Children will also have opportunities to experiment and create their own science projects.
Music and Entertainment: This lively pavilion will feature a variety of entertainment options for all to enjoy, such as live music, cultural performances and Zumba classes.
