Fashion for Action began in 2004 with founding chair Andre Leon Talley and the late Natasha Richardson at the helm. Past event chairs have also included Thom Browne, Patricia Clarkson, Francisco Costa, Dree Hemingway, Marc Jacobs, Natalie Joos, Derek Lam and Rachel Roy. Together with the support of the fashion and beauty community, the benefit has grown to raise $400,000 in 2013 and almost $5 million towards the fight against HIV/AIDS in New York City.
Housing Works is excited to announce on Thursday, November 20th 2014, world renowned fashion designers and this year’s Co-Chairs, Zac Posen and John Varvatos, will come together with New York City’s charitable, social and fashion communities for its annual Fashion for Action event. Supported by hundreds of the fashion industry’s most influential designers, the highly anticipated event is an exclusive designer discount sale featuring a curated collection of sought after luxury brands. Proceeds from this charity event will support Housing Works’ youth outreach programming, which provides dedicated HIV-prevention and treatment services for young people living with HIV/AIDS or at-risk of infection.
Guests attending the event will get first dibs on over a million dollars worth of new, high-end apparel, accessories and merchandise at the intimate shopping party located at the newly renovated Housing Works Chelsea Thrift Shop, then dance the night away at the Rubin Museum of Art. Tickets are now on sale with a small number of $100 general admission tickets available for a limited time.
