She is excited and passionate about bringing Epic Sports to fruition, and creating opportunities to expose New York City’s youth not only to the benefits and values of basketball training but to the philosophy of teamwork and collaboration.

Damian Johnson – Director of Player Development, Travel and AAU Basketball
Damian is well known amongst the youth basketball and high school community throughout the Upper East and West Sides and has taken on a new venture with colleagues Terrell Stokes and Lance Williams formally of Fastbreak, to form Epic Sports Incorporated. Damian’s past experiences working with student athletes comes nothing short of extraordinary making him highly recommended by parents and organizations all over the city. Damian started his coaching career as the varsity girls head coach at the French American School of New York (FASNY) where he also served as the Assistant to the Dean of Students. His love for coaching and the grooming of youths started at the earlier age of 20. Damian forever changed the culture surrounding the girls program posting a 6-3 record during his first season, and in four years starting back in 2008, posted an overall 26 – 14 record. In his last year as the girls head coach he started working part-time for Fastbreak Sports LLC, a youth instructional basketball company located on the upper east side of Manhattan where he became head coach of travel and AAU basketball, while conducting their instructional classes. In summer of 2012 while working for Fastbreak he was offered the varsity boys basketball head coaching job at Lycée Français de New York (LFNY). LFNY never completing a season with a winning record but Damian managed to turn this program around as well. During his first year as head coach, the boys posted a 13-7 record, later going on to win the I.S.A.L Championship that very year. Damian’s philosophy and ideals are based solely on his life experiences, because it wasn’t always easy for him growing up. He learned in his late teenage years that applying the attributes of self – discipline, accountability, hard work, drive and integrity would be the difference between failure and success. He applies these ideals in his newly developed program, E.S.I Basketball Academy coming soon to Epic’s programing. Working in schools and coaching at all youth levels has given him the experience to prep and facilitate the well being and skills of any youth athlete. Damian plans to create a family environment with all the athletes who attend and or under his supervision at Epic Sports.

Born in Harlem and raised in Brooklyn, Lance has participated in sports since the age of 7 and has not stopped since. Like any other kid, Lance honed his skills on the basketball courts and baseball fields of NYC. Lance was fortunate enough to play high school and junior college baseball, culminating with playing two years at the professional level. His passion for teaching was born when his son Lance II, started playing basketball and baseball at the age of 6. The volunteer dad became a coach, the coach became a director and since, Lance has experienced all facets the youth sports industry has to offer. To know how someone arrives to a certain place, you must first understand the road traveled and those places that shape him or her along the way.
