The Children’s Cancer & Blood Foundation (CCBF) is delighted to announce that Vincent Tese, Chairman of FCB Financial Holdings, will be accepting the 2014 “Breakthrough Spirit” award at the annual Breakthrough Ball benefit gala on Tuesday, November 18th at the Plaza Hotel in New York City. Funds raised at this inspiring event enable us to provide critical medication, chemotherapy and other life- saving treatments to children with cancer and blood diseases treated at the Division of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology of New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center.
A social highlight of the season, the gala has featured an impressive collection of honorees. Past “Breakthrough Spirit” recipients include former CBS Evening News Anchor Katie Couric, media entrepreneur and philanthropist Ted Turner, six-time NBA All-Star Amar’eStoudemire and Margo & John Catsimatidis of Red Apple Group/Gristedes Foods. Vincent joins this acclaimed group through his longtime dedication to philanthropic endeavors benefiting children and healthcare- related causes. CCBF is pleased to be honoring Vincent’s tireless efforts on behalf of others and his longtime support of this organization.
Each year, the Breakthrough Ball is a tremendous success with over 400 prominent guests contributing more than $1 million to support the vital work of CCBF doctors and researchers. The funds raised from this one extraordinary evening help sustain our clinical and research programs throughout the year.
The evening will feature a cocktail reception, a world- class dinner prepared by Chef Robb Garceau, and a luxurious silent and live auction. Long-time CCBF supporter, actor, commentator and philanthropist, Charles Grodin will return as emcee. The inspirational program will conclude with a pledge item that will give guests the opportunity to change a child’s life by funding an entire year of chemotherapy treatment. Topping off this magical evening will be a spectacular performance by the Alumni from Broadway’s Jersey Boys.
