Brooklyn Waterfront Artist’s Coalition presents two SummerArt

Shows: SpeakYour Truth, and Color

The 2016 BWAC Summer Shows offer a vivid, exciting rainbow of possibility. In our

first show, SPEAK YOUR TRUTH, 200 local artists speak to what they stand for, value,

and believe in, and what defines them as individuals and inspires them to create art.

BWAC’s second show,COLOR, is curated by Lilian Tone,Assistant Curator for the

Museum of ModernArt. Close to 1800 pieces were submitted, which Tone had to whittle

down to 100. Says Tone of the show,“Color is addressed from an enormous variety of

viewpoints, subject matters, media, and styles.”

Saturday,July 30

1:30 PM–Palma Mingozzi and June Palo, “Artists With A Message” Palma and June

combine art, music and song in celebration of self-expression, self-awareness, self-

empowerment, and the power of communication to bring about positive change for

4:00 PM–The Word Cabaret Presents “Fatal Attractions” The Word Cabaret presents

“FatalAttractions,” a program of three riveting short plays: “Hangman,” by Gregory

Fletcher,“Mergers andAcquisitions” by John Francis Istel, and “Noon Watch” by Lori

Romero.

Sunday,July 31

1:30 PM–John Keegan. John Keegan is an alternative/ indie rock, anti-folk singer/

songwriter from Astoria, Queens who comes to us with songs of love, loss, life and

togetherness.

3:30 PM–Paula Jeanine and Richard Bennett. Join vocalist, lyricist and percussionist

Paula Jeanine Bennett and pianist and composer Richard Bennett for a set of original

songs and the stories behind them. Partners in marriage and music, they will present

works diverse in their inspiration – from Brazil to New Orleans – as well as several new

songs from their recent collaborations. Backing them will be multi-faceted

drummer/percussionist Kevin Sport.
