The Deputy Director is responsible for building the organization's advertising and subscription revenue base; increasing the organization's stability, visibility and reach; overseeing the general administration of the organization; and managing the development and fundraising efforts.
The following are the desired qualifications for this position:
* A passion for New York City policy and politics;
* A minimum of two to four years in a management position and familiarity with nonprofit organizations;

NEWTOWN CREEK BROWNFIELD OPPORTUNITIES AREA DIRECTOR--Greenpoint Manufacturing and Design Center--The Greenpoint Manufacturing and Design Center ("GMDC"), Riverkeeper and the Newtown Creek Alliance seek a full-time brownfields planning director to oversee and implement planning and redevelopment work along the Brooklyn and Queens sides of Newtown Creek.
BOA funds will be used to assess redevelopment opportunities for contaminated sites along and near the Creek, emphasizing high-performance, environmentally sustainable industrial uses, parks and wetlands creation, and improved infrastructure.
The Director will be responsible for: organizing a diverse group of local constituents, including businesses, residents and developers; leading a steering committee to develop a scope for the study and guide the project; overseeing planning, environmental, economic and design consultants; working closely with State and City agencies; and administering contracts and procurement. In addition to these activities, the Director will assist in the organizational development and leadership of the Newtown Creek Alliance, an environmental and community advocacy group started in 2002.

POLICY ANALYST--NYC Dept. of Homeless Services--The NYC Department of Homeless Services (DHS) seeks an Associate Staff Analyst in our HPP/Quality Assurance, Program Evaluation and Policy Analysis Unit within the Adult Services Division. Reporting directly to the Director of the Unit, the selected candidate will have a strong background in policy analysis, preferably with a focus on services to homeless populations and /or housing and in the development and implementation of research/data collection instruments. S/he will develop, monitor and improve the Division's systems for measuring systems performance as the Agency works to achieve the goals of the Mayor's Five Year Plan to Significantly Reduce Chronic
Homelessness. S/he will develop data collection tools, construct queries of the Division's information systems in response to internal and external data requests, and assist the Division in the formation of new reports to support policy decision making in the areas of shelter operations, street outreach, and housing placement. The selected individual will conduct literature research to identify and interpret studies of relevance to the Division's tasks. In addition, s/he will make policy recommendations to the Director based on the information collected.
PREFERRED SKILLS:
Excellent written, communication and presentation skills; excellent analytical skills; excellent interpersonal skills. Candidate must possess significant professional experience in SPSS or an equivalent statistical database, in addition to Excel and Access.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
1. A master's degree from an accredited college in economics, finance, accounting, business or public administration, human resources management, management science, operations research, organizational behavior, industrial psychology, statistics, personnel administration, labor relations, psychology, sociology, human resources development, political science, urban studies, or a closely related field and one year of satisfactory full-time professional experience working with the budget of a large public or private concern in budget administration, accounting, economic or financial administration, or fiscal or economic research; or in management or methods analysis, operations research, organizational research or program evaluation; or in personnel or public administration, recruitment, position classification, personnel relations, employee benefits, staff development, employment program planning/administration, labor market research, economic planning, social services program planning/evaluation, fiscal management, or in a related area; or
2. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and three years of satisfactory full-time professional experience in the areas described in "1" above.
New York City residency is required. Shift: M-F 9 AM-5 PM. Salary: $55,044.00 (minimum) - $81,961.00 (maximum)
