Veteran nonprofit strategist Lori Schwab joins City Limits today as our Managing Director, heading up City Limits’ effort to create a financially sustainable model for local, public-interest journalism.

Schwab was the founding Executive Director of the Online News Association and the New York New Media Association where she shaped the organizations’ strategy, led fundraising development, created popular events and oversaw marketing and communication plans.

She began her career in public relations at Ruder Finn with a focus on arts and cultural clients and events, and has worked with such organizations as Hudson Guild, Alliance for Downtown NY, Development Corporation of Israel, Merrill Lynch, CBRE and World Trade Center Institute and the International Design Conference in Aspen.

A native New Yorker, she has been on the Board of NY Women’s Agenda, NY Women in Communications and Webgrrls. She was also an adjunct professor of Internet and Media Studies at New York University and CUNY’s City College.

“After three years of impressive growth, City Limits is poised to have an even larger impact on this city, and Lori has the perfect skill set for developing a healthy mix of financial support for our journalism,” said Jarrett Murphy, the executive editor and publisher. “She has an impressive record of success and understands how media, advertisers and foundations work.”

Schwab joins Murphy, Director of Marketing and Operations Nekoro Gomes and Managing Editor Jordan Moss on the City Limits team.
