FYI: Immigration rights and civil liberties advocates in Queens are holding a candlelight vigil and rally tonight in response to a recent hate crime attack on a Sikh couple. The couple, immigrants from India, were attacked along with a cousin outside their Woodside home on August 3 by three white men who reportedly yelled, “Bin Laden family, go back to your country.” According to the couple, the men began beating them when they responded to the taunts. The men fled after a neighbor and pizza delivery person came to the family’s aid. The family has lived in Woodside for nine years. The vigil will be held at P.S. 69 in Jackson Heights at 6:30 pm.
