FYI: The Working Families Party will begin offering a ballot-line for Brooklyn judgeships in the upcoming election cycle and chose its nominees through an independent review panel. Citing the ongoing scandals involving Brooklyn Democratic Party judicial nominees, the WFP unveiled its plan for reforming the system yesterday. The review panel will consist of people selected by good government advocacy groups, law schools and bar associations and will open its deliberations to the public. WFP will encourage other political parties to use the panel to vet its nominees as well, and hopes to expand the system to offer ballot lines for judgeships in other boroughs in subsequent election cycles.
