FYI: The Southwest Brooklyn Industrial Development Corporation and Seedco launched a new bus service today to move night shift employees of Sunset Park waterfront businesses to and from work. The groups have been working with local business to correct what they believe is a dearth of transportation in the area, which employers say has frustrated efforts to attract and retain workers. Funded with federal transportation grants, the service will run daily between 7 p.m. and 9 a.m., starting off free but charging passengers “a nominal fee” after six months. Vans will pick up riders at 4th Ave and 36th Street and drop them off along 1st and 2nd Avenues between 39th and 58th Streets. [5/29/03]
