FYI: In another missive challenging the idea that labor hasn’t done it’s share to relieve the budget crunch, municipal workers’ union DC37 noted yesterday that while agencies are laying off its members, they’re giving raises to managers. The union took particular aim at the health department, where it says 236 of its members are being canned–including half of the city’s public health assistants and a quarter of its pest control staff–while the agency has spent at least $532,000 on hires and raises for four managerial positions in the last three months.
