FYI: The annual median income for New York City women is around $4,500 less than that of men. This is one of the stats in a Public Advocate’s office report on the economic, health and social condition of the city’s 4.2 million women, released yesterday. The report also notes that single women head more than a third of the city’s households that include children, and that 44 percent of those households have incomes below the poverty line. [3/27/03]
