FYI: In a City Hall press conference this morning, Speaker Gifford Miller joined the Citizen’s Committee for Children of New York in releasing CCC’s update of its “Keeping Track” tome of child well being data. Miller cited the report as proof that proposed budget cuts to education and other youth services programs further threaten an already struggling population. Using government data, the massive report offers snapshots on everything from education (59 percent of elementary and middle school kids read below state and city standards) to child welfare (151 children are abused or neglected each day).
